ASSISTANCE NEEDED!

During the  Cedar Mountain Fire Protection District  (CMFPD) meeting on Saturday, 9/10/11,  the Snow Removal Contracts were awarded.
In addition to awarding of the contracts, the CMFPD Administrative Board is revising how snow removal oversight will be performed.  In doing so, they are
asking for help with their revised process.

The CMFPD Administrative Control Board (The Board) recently concluded the Snow Removal Contract Award Process.  The CMFPD, for the purposes of snow removal, is broken into five areas.  These areas contain the following sub-divisions:

Area 1 - Color Country, Duck Creek Pines, Movie Ranch So., Timber Trails & Twin Pines Area 2 - Strawberry Area 3 - Swains Creek
Area 4 - Meadowview Heights, Lost Creek, Duck Creek Village & Mirror Lake Estates

Area 5 - Elkridge, Ponderosa Villa & Bryce Summit

The accepted contract options include support from CMFPD residents in the form of a volunteer(s) from each Area or sub-division within an Area, to serves as an “Area Observer.”  The Area Observers (AOs) would provide oversight of snow removal (NOT the snow removal contractors) in their respective Area or sub-division. The AOs responsibility is to look for damage to personal property, infrastructure (e.g., hydrants, electrical wires, etc.), and identify potential safety issues (e.g., vehicles parked in the road in the way of the snow removal equipment, etc.).  The AOs would then notate the location, photograph the affected area and make the Chairman or his designee aware of the damage(s) or safety issue(s), as soon as possible.   The AOs are also asked to attend (either in person or via telephone) the monthly status meeting with the Chairman and contractors to provide verbal clarification (if needed) on any of their findings. The AOs will NOT have any supervisory responsibility over the contractors as this is and will remain the responsibility of the CMFPD Chairman or his designee.

The CMFPD has reached out to CMAC and has asked  CMAC to  serve as the lead in soliciting, contacting and scheduling the AOs for the five Areas and/or sub-divisions within the Areas, for the six months of the 2011/2012 snow season (i.e., November 1, 2011 to April 30, 2012). (Note: The residents volunteering for this task would be reimbursed for their fuel with funds that were normally expended by the Fire Chief and Assistant Chief.)

If you are interested in becoming an AO, please contact Charlie Miller, Chair, CMAC, at his email:   car@infowest.com
